Embrace City and Nature

Cultural structure that communes with city, nature, and culture, and that weaves a life of citizen. Establish warm and active cultural structure that makes people, nature and culture to coexist through embracing order of the city and making relations with surroundings.

- Embrace a Life of NAE-PO City

Under the eaves, scenery of people's living communing with nature. From the old ages, traditional architecture arbor was an important cultural space. It had functions of elegance for self-discipline, Area for education, and local community. To embrace diverse lives of people, the library will be designed with eaves as our traditional arbor communes with nature. Bottom empty space by lifting its floor gives a body out to image of open library. And also assign symbolism and frontality.

- Embrace History and Time of Chungnam Provonce

Stroage facility embodies symbolic image through layered spatial structure. The storage facility will be planned to embrace the time and history of Chungnam Province for the expandability of preparing for the future.

Master plan and Architecture

Firstly, area is set in consideration of the surrounding context so that the city and the nature are not closed to each other. The bulidings are placed and the entrance yard is created so that the flow of the middle axis passes Hongye Park and continued to the Bohun Park.

Secondly, to accept the flow of the nature from Hongye Park, a gallery of lowered position is placed at the center of the complex to secure eco-corridor.

Thirdly, library is placed in the south silent area that is connected to Jamiwon in consideration for the scent and the noise. The Hall of Art is placed in the north dynamic area in consideration for its connectivity to the Large Hall of the Province Office. Also, a place for harmony is made for performance and culture through the Naepo Hanmandang made as one with the Province Office Square.

Fourthly, through the Ulgaet-gil, a community band that encompasses the whole land from north to south, the frame for harmony and communication is completed to allow the co-existence of the people, the nature and the culture of Naepo.
